The temple of Demeter & Kore at Thorikos is located less than a kilometer south-west from the theater of Thorikos. The temple ruins consisting of several broken columns, capitals and parts of the foundation is all that survive amongst the trees and underbrush. The columns look to be unfinished since only the lower portion of what remains has been fluted similar to the columns at Messene for the temple of Asklepios (shown right). The measurements are not verified thus the dimensions given are statistically calculated. The site was dedicated to the goddesses based on an inscription found nearby, and may have been a sacred location long before the temple was constructed.
