The temple of Athena at Keos is located on a ledge cutout from a steep rock face cliff near the SE gate of Karthaia. It is a peripteral structure with 6 x 11 columns and a megaron type naos with two columns inantes. Some of the columns on the western flank are partially preserved, while some on the southern end have been reconstructed. The 11 x 23 meter stylobate consists of limestone, contrasting the poros stone columns and marble walls of the naos. Some fragmentary remains of the sculptures depicting the battle between Greeks and Amazons can be seen at the museum in Chora.
